Mitch O'Connell's Westword Cover

I hit Tokyo Joe's for lunch today. Love the Joe's Noodle Bowl. Yum. While getting in line, a bright yellow object caught my eye. It was the cover to one of my favorite papers. Westword. What a great cover. Well, after checking the contents, it was Mitch O'Connell. The style looked familiar, and it was. He is a friend on myspace.com/mitchoconnell. So, enjoy. More of Mitch's work can be found at MitchOConnell.Com

Kroenke's Firecrackers are a dud

4th of July fans heading down to center field
to watch the fireworks show that didn't happen
Well the Colorado Rapids not only blow the game on the 4th of July, but botched the Fireworks Show that was supposed to make up for it.

As the estimated, 19,000 in attendance, were herded out of the stands and onto the field for fireworks viewing. The viewers were unaware of the lack luster fireworks they were about to witness. The stadium lights went out. The Big Screen started the show and the fireworks started to boom. It was short lived though. A few minutes into the show a glitch occurred. Two songs started playing over each other, The Big Screen went black and the "rockets red glare" and "bombs bursting in air" came to a deathly silence.

Confused fans milled around. The groans and grumbles became louder and louder. Children were crying. Adults were screaming. Many in attendance escaped to their vehicles. Considering the build up as the Biggest Fireworks Show in Colorado, they missed the mark. And who would they be. Maybe Stan "The Man" Kroenke. You know. The owner of the same outfit that brought you the conflict between the Denver Nuggets, NBA and Wrestling. Dooooh! But, have no fear! If you want to see your 4thFest activities, just show up to Dick's on July 25th with your ticket stub. I am sure the Founding Fathers and our Service men and women won't mind the delay.
